whilst joseph was off being busy at work, and lewis actually having the day off, he had decide to bundle up his precious five year old and take her to the park. sure the weather was cold, but it wasn't raining, and neither was it snowing. the sun was out, and shining, and what was a little frost bite if it meant that amber could let off some steam outside, instead of running around the estate like a bull in a china shop? lewis really needed her to exert her energy into the outdoors, and whilst it was... seemingly perfect outside, why not just head on over to the park for a little bit? besides, amber seemed to really enjoy the idea and her energy suddenly went onto her being very impatient, whilst daddy tied her boots up and made sure that she was bundled up from the cold very well.

and when they finally got to the park, amber let go of his hand and ran towards the swings telling him that she was a big girl now and she didn't need him to push her. with that in mind, lewis took the book out of his pocket and seated himself down on a cold bench with the intention of reading, at the very least, one chapter before amber decided she needed his attention again. as it happened, lewis managed just one damn page before amber called out to him to give her a push on the swing. he set his book down on the bench and got up, going over and giving her a gentle push, forgetting all about his abandoned book now, as his daughter giggled and asked him to go faster and higher -- to which he complied, of course.

hello, open to you. i <3 you

although margot seemed to think it was still too cold to want to spend much time outdoors, her son clearly didn't agree with her. even the coldest of days hadn't stopped christian from wanting to play outside, the young boy probably still thinking that the weather outside was exactly like the other winters he had experienced in california. margot had tried to explain just how much colder it was in avalon than back home, but even that coupled with the few times she had gotten tired of explaining and sent him out with more than one coat on to experience it for himself didn't work. it was like she had told mac - the boy had ice in his veins. he simply didn't seem to feel the cold like margot did, which was even more so since her chemo treatments.

but even a cold day wasn't going to stop margot from taking christian to the park today. she had promised him since the start of the week, and it was so hard now to spend time together where it was just the two of them. she loved living with isabel, and was glad to have her and her nieces in the same house as her (and she knew christian agreed), but it did make it harder for her and her son to have one-on-one time like they used to have. so today she'd bundled the two of them up for a bit of time at the playground, just the two of them. christian's beaming smile as he ran towards the equipment was enough to negate the awkwardness of her many layers and the still crisp air. it was no surprise to her when she ended up pushing him at the swings, her own pushes small in comparison to the force the man next to her was using on his daughter, who kept asking to go higher. "she's quite the daredevil," she couldn't help but comment to him with a greeting smile, happy that christian was content for her to go as forceful as she could in her still weakened state.

you better <3 me. @lewis reid

lewis must have been lost in his own mind as he was pushing amber on the swing. it was something that happened often, and possibly left people wondering if he was one of those creepy robots that were designed to look, move and talk like a real person. but no, he wasn't one of those. he was a real live human being, even if he didn't act like it sometimes. and he must have been so lost, that he didn't actually realize that there was someone else in the park with him, let alone them being next to him at the swing-set. it wasn't until she talked that he was pulled out of his daydream, and was looking to the left, then to the right to see where that adult voice had come from, that he realized he was no longer the only adult around. he sighed quietly, and nodded.

"she likes to think so." he told the woman, glancing at her, then at her child. she had a son, but lewis couldn't tell how old he was, because he seemed to be bundled up incredibly well for this cold weather. "daddy, please go higher." came the little voice, and he figured that it was probably because he had ceased his forceful pushing, because he had become distracted by the woman next to him. he went back to pushing her higher though, knowing that he could talk to this woman, and push his daughter at the same time. "it's a bit too cold to be out, but they seem to enjoy it, huh?"

no, never <33

margot wasn't too sure if there was any playground etiquette that said when you could or couldn't talk to another parent. she'd always seemed to fall foul of any such thing in the past, back when she'd been the working mother rushing into playgroup late with case files under one arm and christian in the other. it was one of her biggest unspoken fears, that she wasn't doing this whole parenting thing right, even though she knew she could do it. after all, she'd helped raise her sister, and isabel turned out pretty freaking amazing. but as an accidental mother, as a single parent who made no attempt to remedy that, there was still a part of her that worried that she was always doing something wrong. like talking to a man on the swing set when people thought she should have been more focused on her kid.

"it's freezing!" margot couldn't help but complain, looking down at all the layers she was wearing and clicking her tongue. despite her years spent away at yale, she was still very much a california girl at heart and she never missed the sun more than when she was surrounded by the remnants of snow. "i don't know how they don't feel it. maybe it's a kid thing. i suppose if i ran around as much as this one" - she tilted her head at her son who was kicking his legs out to make the swing go higher - "i wouldn't feel the cold either."

don't blame you. i's a slow bitch. :( @lewis reid
